Ace Hardware Taps Jacobs Agency to Launch The Supply Place

CHICAGO, March 17, 2014 — Ace Hardware has engaged Jacobs Agency to help position and launch The Supply Place, its new retail-based B2B service offering.

While Ace has historically focused on serving the consumer/DIY market, it was recently discovered that a significant percentage of its sales come from business-related purchases. Recognizing the potential of this untapped segment, Ace is rolling out The Supply Place, a service tailored to meet the unique needs of small business. With plans for specialized staff to be on site at retail locations nationwide, The Supply Place will be a new profit-driving mechanism for Ace.

“Given that The Supply Place marks such a significant evolution for Ace, its launch really demands that internal stakeholders and small business-decision makers shift their perceptions of what Ace is and what it offers,” explained Tom Jacobs, President. “As such, The Supply Place needs to be very thoughtfully positioned, explained and launched in order for it to change perceptions, gain acceptance and market traction – and we’re excited to have the opportunity to do just that!”

Over the next several months, Jacobs Agency will collaborate with Ace to refine The Supply Place brand and develop an integrated campaign that builds awareness for and engagement in this service offering internally and externally. While Ace is currently piloting The Supply Place in select markets, a more formal launch is slated for the fall of 2014.
